Color Concept

Initial concept of the Decoration Scheme was to be bright... fluro bright. Fluro paints are not UV stable, so the search for adequate paint systems began. Working with a quality long term paint supplier, It was established that a high pigment rated automotive paint with 15% flex additive including a Tri coat of UV Protection Clear (Just like a truck "curtain sider" graphic) would be UV Stable (20yrs+) and provide a high bond to the Airframe Aluminium with a superior, vibrant, and opaque color that is well suited to VECTOR graphics.

Color Sketches of vector designs started the first week of obtaining the Empennage Kit.
A modern RV14A logo was submitted to the client and approved

Blends and Fades were not wanted for this design concept... rather artistic overlays were preferred by the client. Vinyl wrap was considered but rejected due to weight and color durability, repair and fading issues. Printed Vinyl Wrap is short term at best amd cannot be guaranteed for flight durability.

Vector Graphics

Using CorelDraw combined with Photoshop files are set to be cut on a plotter (PVC VINYL GRAPHICS as a MASK) or Digitally Printed 1:1 size on Vinyl Banner or Fluted PP for concept pre manufacturing. Eg. Instrument laser cut panel, Instrument laser engraved labels, logos and texts. Based on ALL VECTOR drawing files, images will be crisp and professionally set. eg. Smooth curves and layouts.

Vector Templates - Profile Cuts
Templates via Plotter Cut Vinyl Decal material were first drawn to replica from plans, then cut and applied (stuck) onto the part for accurate cutting via knife, jigsaw or bandsaw or router or drawn.

Vector Templates - Painting
Plotter cut templates of curves, logos and texts will be used AS A MASK for accurate airframe painting. The plotter has cutting capabilities for smooth continuous lines which will suit the aircraft exterior scheme in both flow and shape accuracy.

Printed Templates - 1:1 Sizing
Digital Printing at Accurate Full Size ( 1:1 ) allows for pre-testing of all custom components and accurate 3D modelling thereafter. eg. Center Console

3D Drawings / Parts

Vans Aircraft supply with an RV14 Empennage Kit Order... a set of printed plans and an Online set of digital plans that can be downloaded and viewed on a monitor or ipad and a Dashboard 3D file and 2D .dxf file for instrument panel design. Once correct sizes are determined, accurate part drawings can begin.

Garmin Website, Vans Website and a few file sharing sites such as GrabCad often have completed files ready to embed into an assembly or drawing. 90% of vhjxr.com files are new ( engineer style ) drawings suited to VH-JXR based on information available, suitability, similarity or other by the vhjxr.com team then composed into an assembly or part. Overlays
SWS RV14/A MSFS package also includes a Livery example for the customer to manipulate. Whilst very difficult, reasonable results can be achieved. It is ideal for concept placement of all surfaces including underside layouts. Notice our LHS and RHS slight differences whilst final design decisions were being made.

To manipulate the graphics, you'll need a late version Photoshop, Blender or similiar. Follow tutorial videos for more info. Updating the graphics are not easy but assist greatly in the overall RV14 A Paint Scheme Design results.

Web Design
The vhjxr.com website is written entirely by hand using Notepad++. Images and graphics using CorelDraw and Photoshop. 3D Objects, Isometric Drawings and Engineer Style Drawings using SolidWorks and Vans Plans.
